Jive was at head office with me this week making the rounds and attending meetings. At one point she was busy exploring the front lobby and had crawled under a bench when it suddenly dawned on me she was within inches of the large indoor fishpond. Typical water loving Labrador. Needless to say she was quickly called back and actually complied!! She's also been to another hockey game, the mall and, of course, Tim Horton's.
She did well with greeting people- she has a nice, clean sit and doesn’t jump up at all. Like her sister Juneau, she does have springs in her back legs though. She may not jump up on people but she does like to jump on or off pretty much everything else. Actually it’s more like launching herself... at the other dogs, at the cats, off the steps, at the back door etc. We’re battling over the couch right now. ;-) Her commands are coming along nicely and so far she’s been a real joy to work with. She is so eager, attentive and compliant (most of the time) but she does have a wild puppy streak in her too. Thankfully it hasn’t shown itself while we’ve been out! Jive is definitely not as calm and laid-back as Lyric was.
Her nickname is MacJiver, the Caped Crusader since she is fearless (other than the stuffed cat right at puppy eye level in one of the offices) and because her jacket is about 2 sizes to big for her. When she is wearing it you can barely see her tail, which is constantly wagging, all you see is her jacket swaying back and forth! I’m not sure she’ll ever grow into that green cape! I weighed Jive on Thursday and she was 16.2 lbs at 13 weeks of age. Fortune was 16.6 lbs at 11 weeks and weighs 49 lbs as a full-grown Lab (she’s a very small dog). I think Jive is going to be even smaller than Fortune unless she does some major growing in the next month or two.
The cutest thing I love about her is how she drags her blanket all over, looking for that perfect place to curl up and go to sleep yet still be within eyesight of me. Both at work and at home the blanket travels with her to whatever room she is in.
